The IWB is a work in progress. It demonstrates how your studio ideas have developed from investigation related to the work of cultural, historical, and contemporary art works. IWB's will be collected every two to three weeks. You are expected to bring your IWB to school everyday as it could be used to record notes in other subject areas that might relate to your personal art work. CITE SOURCES FOR EVERYTHING. Each entry should be a full page of text/images. Label each entry by type (artist research, cultural research,

You need to create 20 - 40 IW pages for each monthly check. This should be largely independent. Here are ways you can approach the IW:

Artist Research
·       Compare/Contrast art works by a single artist.
o Pick an artist to review based on what you are currently interested in visually, conceptually or technically.
·       Look at the life of an artist and explore the relationship between their personal and professional life. What artists did they admire, and is that influence evident in the work. How did the time in which the artist lived influence the work created?
·       Compare/Contrast the work of different artists.
o This research could center upon artists interested in the same subject matter, or technique.
·       Compare/Contrast your work to that of another artists.

Cultural Research
·       Compare/Contrast art work within a single culture.
o Pick a culture to review based on what you are currently interested in visually, conceptually or technically.
·       Look at the culture and explore how the traditions and belief systems influenced the work created?
·       Compare/Contrast the work between different cultures.
o      This research could center upon cultures interested in the same subject matter, or technique.
·       Compare/Contrast your work to cultural works.

Curricular/Non Art Research
·       Does another passion fuel your work? Science, psychology, math, English, sports, music, history, etc... If so provide images and information related to this area you wish to use to inform your work.

Technical Research
·       Create thumbnail sketches depicting compositional ideas. You should be working through ideas multiple times, and describe your idea development. Reference prior investigation.
·       Collect information about new techniques you would like to try in class. What do you want me to show you how to do? If I don't know how to do it, we can figure it out.
·       Photograph works in progress, reflect on what was done, has your idea been altered as you have worked on it? If so how?
